OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship, the OnePlus 13, which is tipped to debut with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. While the exact launch date in China is still under wraps, a recent teaser by Qualcomm suggests that OnePlus might be the first to introduce the new Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, previously rumoured as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite, set to be unveiled during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on October 22, is expected to power a range of upcoming flagship devices, including models from Xiaomi, Oppo, and iQOO. A video from Qualcomm has further fueled speculation, showing a prototype smartphone with a circular camera island that closely resembles the design of the upcoming OnePlus 13.
Moreover, OnePlus China’s President Louis Lee reposted Qualcomm’s teaser on Weibo, strongly hinting that the OnePlus 13 will indeed be the first smartphone globally to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This suggests that OnePlus is positioning itself ahead of competitors like Xiaomi, which was previously speculated to launch the first device with the new chip. The video hints at the new chipset’s Oryon cores, which promise significant improvements in both performance and power efficiency.
The OnePlus 13 is tipped to pack a massive 6,000mAh battery, which would be a big upgrade over the 5,400mAh battery seen on the previous model. It will likely have support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
While retaining the same vibration motor and main camera as its predecessor, the OnePlus 13 will reportedly feature a larger 6.8-inch display with the typical punch-hole design. This screen may remain flat but with curved glass on all four sides, giving it a nearly bezel-less appearance. One notable change might also be the introduction of a real ceramic body, a premium design shift reported by Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station.
It is also said to come with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometrics, which will allow people to unlock the device even if their fingers are oily or dirty. The chip will likely be backed by up to 24GB of RAM.
